  • Fixed terminal container selection when identical container names existed on different servers.
  • Refreshed service configuration after required environment variables changed.
  • Redacted dotted GitHub tokens from exported logs and prevented wide tables from overflowing their containers.

Improvements

  • Pro: Reworked split-screen shell with per-pane tab strips, drag & drop between panes, and pane-scoped overlays
  • Pro: Folder tabs via drag & drop
  • Pro: The address bar follows the focused tab, and deep links are delivered live to already-mounted surfaces
  • Composer: Real byte progress for attachment uploads, stock and plugin-offloaded; cancel now aborts the transfer itself

  • Contacts: Trusted Senders address book enabled by default on contacts-capable accounts
  • Settings: Custom time zone setting that overrides browser detection (#755)
  • Login: Server dropdown on the OAuth-only login screen (#799)

  • Admin: Push relay picked from an admin-defined list instead of a free URL field

Icons! Lots of them! – These Weeks in Firefox: Issue 206

25 Augustus 2026 om 19:43

Highlights

  • Starting in Firefox 154, we’ve added a new capability for changing the default browser icon for Windows (Windows-only, for now, and not MSIX / Store installs) in about:settings#appearance!

Menu under Appearance settings containing a list of icons to choose from to customize the Firefox browser icon.

Settings panel checkbox to enable stylesheet handling in the debugger.

  • The Picture-in-Picture WebAPI is now available, starting with release version Firefox 153!
    • This does not replace the built-in Picture-in-Picture mechanism, and is in fact powered by it.

Migration Improvements

New Tab Page

  • That’s a wrap for the World Cup! We’re powering down the Sports widget today.
    • Some folks might see a survey about the Sports widget, to get feedback from the wild on whether or not it provided any user value (Telemetry points to β€œyes”, but it’s good to get qual data too)
    • We’re replacing it with some new widgets. If you’re in an English-speaking region, you will probably see it replaced with a Daily Crossword widget. Otherwise, it’ll be replaced with a Picture of the Day widget.
  • Sections have rolled out to 100% in France! We’re now doing 10% Sections experiments in Spain, Italy, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium.
  • Shout out to volunteer Sameeksha who added an accessible name to the Task list widget β€’β€’β€’ button, adding an aria-label/accessible-name so NVDA/VoiceOver announce the control and keyboard navigation/activation works correctly on New Tab.
  • Joel added WebNotifications to the newtab state, allowing New Tab widgets to observe and reflect WebNotification events (affects the notification-driven widget lifecycle and UI state updates).
  • Reem Hamoui adjusted the New-Tab Widgets 3-dot menu layout to vertically center menu entries inside the hover-granted colorful stripe, removing visual misalignment and small hit-area offsets on touch and pointer inputs.
  • Dre implemented the show less/show more transition animation for New Tab expand/collapse, smoothing layout shifts with a CSS transition to reduce perceived jank during widget list changes.
  • Scott Downe fixed New Tab Page drag-and-drop so widgets no longer jump or keep moving during drags (2049472).
  • Reem Hamoui rendered the Daily Crossword in a sandboxed iframe to isolate its scripts/CSP on the New Tab Page (2049489).
  • Reem Hamoui added the Crossword option to about:preferences and wired the New Tab Page crossword widget into prefs (2050340), so users can enable or disable the crossword via the standard Preferences UI rather than about:config.
  • Dre set up the Picture of the Day boilerplate, including prefs and basic New Tab UI components (2050969), which exposes a configurable PoD surface for users to opt into and customize.
  • Dre added a dismiss control and persisted dismissal state to the daily photo UI (2050972), allowing users to remove the current picture from their New Tab and avoid immediate reappearance.
  • Dre added a β€œset as wallpaper” action and hooked it into New Tab wallpaper storage/prefs (2050973), enabling users to promote a PoD image to their custom New Tab wallpaper persistently.
  • Dre connected the Picture of the day widget to the Merino endpoint to set the background of the widget to the current picture (2050976). He also added telemetry for the Picture of the day widget on the New Tab Page to capture impressions and clicks for usage analysis (2050977).
  • Nina Pypchenko [:nina-py] added a small size variant for the Focus Timer widget in Nova so the timer can render compactly in narrow/new tab layouts and reduce vertical space usage (2051179).
  • Maxx Crawford created a DevTools β€˜controls’ area on the New Tab Page to enable and configure the widget, exposing toggles and settings that let developers and experimenters flip the widget without changing prefs, which reduces friction when reproducing NTP widget behaviors during debugging and testing.
  • Irene Ni switched the New Tab β€˜inferred personalization’ checkbox to the platform moz-checkbox control, restoring native checkbox semantics (role/keyboard focus/visual state) so users toggling inferred personalization see consistent a11y behavior and platform rendering across Windows/macOS/Linux.
  • Scott Downe fixed an intermittent visual reload/flicker of sponsored tiles and the Add Shortcut button when pinning/unpinning shortcuts, preventing momentary tile DOM reflows and layout thrash that caused perceived data loss or longer perceived latency during shortcut edits.
  • Scott Downe ensured custom image URLs persist on manually added Top Site tiles after edit, so users’ uploaded or external thumbnails no longer revert to the site’s homepage preview when saving edits and their custom thumbnails are correctly cached and displayed.
  • Dre introduced two variants of the World Cup widget survey message, changing the copy delivered in the widget to support an A/B/message-variant experiment and altering what users see when the World Cup widget surfaces survey prompts on their New Tab Page.
  • Nina Pypchenko [:nina-py] introduced a default state for Medium and Large Stocks widget sizes on the New Tab Page to surface placeholder content and avoid blank tiles when the Stocks feed is empty or slow to load.
  • Nina Pypchenko [:nina-py] added an error state to the Stocks widget on the New Tab Page to show an explicit failure UI when quote fetches or network requests fail, reducing user confusion.
  • Alexandre Hanot migrated AdsFeed to fetch New Tab ads through the MozAdsClient, changing the ad retrieval path (AdsFeed -> MozAdsClient) which affects ads loading behavior and telemetry for users who see New Tab Page ads.
  • Irene Ni fixed the New Tab add-pin flow that was creating extra rows when grouped pins was off by changing the insertion logic to append into the existing grid, which eliminates unexpected row creation and layout shifts for users managing many pins (2053251).
  • Scott Downe updated New Tab section rendering to hide cards that don’t fill their row by adjusting layout logic/CSS, removing orphaned placeholders and reducing blank space on narrow viewports or low-item sections for a cleaner grid appearance (2053264).
  • Reem Hamoui added a context menu to the Crossword widget using a postMessage integration between the iframe and parent page, enabling right-click actions (copy/hint/theme) and making the embedded crossword more interactive and accessible to users who rely on context menus (2053311).
  • Reem Hamoui added a visible β€œNew” badge plus interaction handlers and state tracking to the Crossword widget on the New Tab Page to improve discoverability and make tapping/clicking behave reliably when launching puzzles (2053667).
  • Irene Ni removed unused Add Shortcut OMC artifacts from the New Tab Page (2053843); this is a cleanup of obsolete assets/templates and has no direct runtime user impact.
  • Maxx Crawford added author and license attribution to the Picture of the Day widget (2053933); this surfaces photographer credit and license metadata on the New Tab Page for users who want provenance information.
  • Maxx Crawford applied UX refinements to the Picture of the Day widget (2054109); users will see improved layout, spacing, and touch targets in the POTD area for clearer interactions.
  • Maxx Crawford added a pref and trainhopConfig gate to toggle the POTD β€œSet as wallpaper” feature (2054111); rollout and availability of the wallpaper action are now controllable via pref and remote trainhopConfig.
  • Maxx Crawford added a dedicated trainhopConfig.widgetPictureOfTheDay payload for POTD feature config (bug 2054112) so the New Tab Page train-hop widget can be controlled server-side β€” this delivers image URLs, attribution and display params remotely which lets us enable/disable POTD per cohort without ship-side changes and reduces rollout latency for users who see the Picture‑of‑the‑Day widget.
  • Irene Ni updated the Shortcuts Add/Edit dialog for Nova (bug 2054175) to improve the add/edit UX on the New Tab Shortcuts surface β€” the patch adjusts dialog layout and controls, tightens validation and accessibility labels, and reduces accidental duplicate/invalid shortcut creation so users editing shortcuts have a more reliable, faster flow.
  • Maxx Crawford fixed the Daily crossword widget content overflowing and clipping past the bottom container boundary by adjusting the crossword widget’s layout/CSS (container height calculations and overflow/overflow-anchor rules) on the New Tab Page, restoring full visibility of clues and controls across responsive breakpoints.
  • Maxx Crawford fixed Related articles not opening on click by repairing the related-articles component’s click handling and event delegation (anchor href/target behavior and JS listener) on the New Tab Page so article tiles now reliably open on click for users.
  • Maxx Crawford added a β€œNew” badge and interactions to the Picture of the Day widget, implementing an isNew flag, local state/localStorage handling, ARIA label updates and click behavior so users can immediately see and act on newly added images.
  • Maxx Crawford updated the initial order of the Picture of the day widget by changing the PoD component’s initial ordering/priority algorithm so first-run and default NTP surfaces surface curated/high-priority images first.
  • Maxx Crawford migrated Crossword widget strings from Fluent back to inline markup to fix localization/formatting regressions in the crossword UI and ensure consistent rendering of labels and controls across locales.
  • Irene Ni migrated the New Tab Widgets expand button to moz-button which standardizes the expand/collapse control on the New Tab Page widgets area, fixing inconsistent styling and keyboard/click handling so users now get consistent visuals and improved accessibility across platforms.
  • Reem Hamoui added a dedicated trainhopConfig.widgetCrossword payload for Crossword feature config which isolates crossword rollout flags and content settings from other trainhop payloads, allowing targeted remote-config changes and safer A/B testing of the crossword widget without impacting unrelated New Tab features.
  • Maxx Crawford fixed the Daily crossword widget being blank after closing and reopening the browser by ensuring widget state is correctly initialized/persisted on startup (New Tab Page widget lifecycle), so users now reliably see the daily puzzle after a restart instead of an empty frame.
  • Reem Hamoui fixed Daily crossword completed puzzle and show clues are displayed in medium sized widget, restoring completed-puzzle rendering and clue visibility in the New Tab Page medium widget (widget template/CSS).
  • Maxx Crawford updated Discovery Stream Admin buttons to use moz-button components, replacing custom controls with moz-button to standardize admin UI styling and focus behavior.
  • Maxx Crawford added per-widget feature toggles and pref reset buttons to Discovery Stream Admin, enabling admins to toggle individual widgets and reset prefs without code deploys β€” changes here can alter what users see when toggled.
  • Maxx Crawford migrated Discovery Stream Admin unit tests to jest, moving tests to Jest for faster developer feedback and more consistent test tooling.
  • Maxx Crawford enforced Fail jest tests that emit console.error messages, making tests fail on console.error to catch regressions earlier and improve content quality before release.
  • Kyle Jones populated MozAdsRequestOptions flags from adsBackendConfig in AdsFeed on the New Tab Page, changing ad request parameters that may alter which ads or personalization users see.
  • Mike Conley removed the version 145 train-hop shim for the PrivacyFeed getTodayStats guard, simplifying guard logic in the New Tab Page with no direct user-visible change.

Search and Urlbar

Firefox 154.0.1

25 Augustus 2026 om 20:00

Fixed

  • Fixed slower access to saved passwords and unexpected Primary Password prompts caused by recent changes to password storage. (Bug 2064411, Bug 2065593, Bug 2063993)

  • Fixed an issue where addresses were failing to autofill on some sites. (Bug 2065145, Bug 2063599)

  • Fixed Firefox adding a new Start Menu shortcut on Windows every time it started. (Bug 2064652)

  • Fixed an issue where connections to local network devices were failing without a permission prompt on some sites loaded over HTTP. (Bug 2059274)

  • Fixed a crash that could occur when opening intranet sites that are configured to link to files on a local network share. (Bug 2064648)

  • Fixed an issue on Windows where tab titles were cut off at the start when the system font was MS UI Gothic. (Bug 2056856)

Unresolved

  • For users with vertical tabs enabled, the sidebar may not persist across Firefox restarts. Vertical tabs can be re-enabled after the restart by clicking the sidebar toolbar button. A fix is currently in development. (Bug 2065431)

  • When toolbars are hidden in fullscreen mode (the default on Windows and Linux), the vertical tabs sidebar does not appear when moving the cursor to the left edge of the screen. As a workaround, move the cursor to the top of the screen to reveal both toolbars and sidebar together. Alternatively, you can also right-click the toolbar and uncheck the Hide toolbars option. We are currently working on a fix. (Bug 2064638)

      uNmINeD 0.20.3-dev

      Door: megasys
      24 Augustus 2026 om 23:40

New uNmINeD development snapshot is available for download!

      Changes:

      • Bedrock LevelDB log file reader optimizations (speedup for worlds with large log files)
      • Isometric mode optimizations (huge speedup, less memory usage)
      • Isometric mode now uses the block filter settings
      • Added support for Java Edition default blockstates (from 26.3-snapshot-7)
      • Upgraded to .NET 11 (preview.7)

      Default blockstates

Minecraft Java Edition from version 26.3-snapshot-7 does not store blockstate properties in the world save files when referencing a default blockstate. This caused these blockstates to render incorrectly.

uNmINeD now uses a configuration file config/vanilla.defaultblockstates.java.txt to resolve default vanilla blockstate properties. If it encounters a blockstate reference without properties, it will use the default properties from the configuration file.

The configuration file only contains default blockstate information for vanilla blocks. A mod will be available later that will allow you to generate a blockstate configuration file for modded worlds.

South Dakota: BIG in South Dakota

      Door: Petr
      24 Augustus 2026 om 17:00

In today's blog, we are revealing the new routes coming with our upcoming South Dakota map expansion, where owners of the Special Transport DLC will be able to take on the challenge of hauling oversized cargo. So let's take a closer look!

As you know, transporting cargo of this size is no small task. Its large scale requires not only escort vehicles and police assistance, but also special routes that are wide and spacious enough for your truck to safely pass through, helping ensure a smooth delivery. Of course, successful drivers are also adequately compensated for the responsibility that comes with maneuvering such a colossal load!

Are you one of the most skilled drivers ready to take on the challenge? If so, and you own the Special Transport DLC, you can find jobs offering the opportunity to haul oversized cargo on these three routes:

      Pierre to Spearfish
      Winner to Mitchell
      Mobridge to Buffalo

There, you will find industries that play an important role in South Dakota's economy and will be glad to put your hauling skills to work! Support the custom quarry depot in Spearfish by delivering equipment from the mining machine service in Pierre, or haul specialized cargo such as a giant silo or large reservoir tank from the agriculture equipment dealer in Winner to a custom farm depot in Mitchell. You can also load up your trailer with a large tank or pipes at the oil service depot in Mobridge and safely deliver them to the warehouse in Buffalo.

We hope you'll enjoy discovering the landscapes of South Dakota as you travel these routes, whether you're hauling oversized cargo or not. But if you do take on a Special Transport job, stay alert - navigating these roads with an extra-large load on your trailer can still get tricky!

We hope you are looking forward to trucking in this state as much as we are. If so, make sure to add the South Dakota DLC to your Steam wishlist! And if you don't own the Special Transport DLC yet, make sure to get it on Steam.

Also, remember to follow us on X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky, and YouTube for all the latest news from this map expansion and other American Truck Simulator information, or sign up for our newsletter to stay informed. Until next time, stay safe on the road!

      MKVToolNix v101 released

      Door: mosu
      24 Augustus 2026 om 20:06

      Hey y’all!

The first release after the milestone round version v100 is here, v101. It’s pretty small, but I still suggest everyone update due to the inclusion of updated underlying libraries libEBML & libMatroska. Both are updated to their respective releases from a couple of weeks ago which fix several potential invalid memory access cases that could be triggered by reading files broken in very rare, specific ways. Basically they’re potentially security-relevant.

You can download the source code or one of the packages. The Windows packages as well as the Linux AppImage are available already. The other Linux packages & the macOS disk image are still being built and will be available over the course of the next couple of hours.

Here are the NEWS since the previous release:

      Version 101.0 β€œTime To Turn” 2026-08-24

      New features and enhancements

      • translations: substantial extension of the Czech translation by Michal VΓ‘rady.

      Bug fixes

      • mkvmerge: TrueHD parser: fixed mkvmerge dropping the last TrueHD frame if its size was smaller than 12 bytes. Fixes #6296.
      • MKVToolNix GUI: job runner: the variable <MTX_INSTALLATION_DIRECTORY> will be replaed in the executable position of the command-line for the program to execute again. Fixes #6299.
      • Windows: fixed converting the scalable SVG icons into the bitmap .ico ones used on Windows so that the grey background remains uniform & doesn’t get garbled. Fixes #6280.

      Build system changes

      • The bundled libraries libEBML & libMatroska were updated to v1.4.7 & v1.7.2 respectively. Those versions fix various possible invalid memory accesses when reading data broken in certain, very specific ways, making them security sensitive.
      • libEBML v1.4.7 & libMatroska v1.7.2 are now required.
      • The meta info file org.bunkus.mkvtoolnix-gui.appdata.xml was renamed to org.bunkus.mkvtoolnix-gui.metainfo.xml.

      Have fun! πŸ’πŸ˜

      v0.16.19

      24 Augustus 2026 om 22:04

      [0.16.19] - 2026-08-24

If you are upgrading from v0.16.x, replace the binary (or run docker pull). If you are upgrading from v0.15.x and below, please read the upgrading documentation for more information on how to upgrade from previous versions.

      Added

      • WebUI: oauthClientId setting in Application, which allows the WebUI to use a different OAuth client than the default.
      • Sieve: env.spam.score and env.spam.is_spam variables, which expose the spam filter result to system scripts running at the DATA stage.
      • CalDAV: vCardVersion setting in AddressBook, which allows the default vCard version to be specified when the client does not request a specific version.

      Changed

      • MySQL & MariaDB: Key columns are now VARBINARY(255) with a full-length primary key instead of TINYBLOB. Note: Existing deployments should run, once per table, for each of the tables a, d, e, f, g, h, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t, u, w, x and y the command ALTER TABLE a MODIFY k VARBINARY(255) NOT NULL;.

      Fixed

      • ACME:
        • Order and authorization failures are never logged, so an order rejected by the CA.
        • An order rejected by the CA marks the renewal task as permanently failed.
      • CalDAV:
        • Attendee addresses whose mailto: URI percent-encodes a full name-addr are silently dropped from the scheduling snapshot.
        • Attendees whose calendar user address cannot be parsed should be flagged with SCHEDULE-STATUS=3.7.
        • The RSVP link in an iMIP invitation stamps PARTSTAT on the organizer's copy of the event only, leaving a local attendee's own copy at NEEDS-ACTION and sending the organizer no reply.
        • MKCALENDAR, MKCOL and PROPPATCH store the display name, description, time zone and the other per-user properties under the authenticated account rather than the account that owns the collection.
      • Directory:
        • An empty column, attribute or claim returned by an external directory is synchronized as an empty string rather than a missing value.
        • /api/discover splits the account name on @ without accounting for the % master user separator or the recovery administrator.
      • FoundationDB: Older chunked entries are not deleted.
      • IMAP: SETACL and DELETEACL fail to resolve an identifier spelled with uppercase characters.
      • iMIP: Invitations, replies and cancellations reference a TZID parameter with no matching VTIMEZONE component whenever the event was stored without one.
      • JMAP:
        • AddressBook/get: A new account's default address book is never recorded.
        • Email/get and Email/parse with fetchAllBodyValues return body values only for the parts listed in textBody or htmlBody, omitting every other text/* part in bodyStructure.
        • Email/set writes display names as an RFC 2047 encoded-word wrapped in a quoted-string, which RFC 2047 forbids.
        • Mailbox/set, AddressBook/set and Calendar/set store isSubscribed and the other per-user properties under the authenticated account rather than the account named in the request.
        • Principal/query returns no results when the name or email filter is spelled with uppercase characters.
        • FileNode/set: File nodes created over JMAP are returned with a <D:href> holding the raw name over WebDAV.
      • Meilisearch:
        • Queries return at most 1000 results, as the maxTotalHits pagination setting is left at the Meilisearch default.
        • Searches combining several terms return documents that match only some of them.
        • A task confirmation timeout is reported as a success when failOnTimeout is disabled.
      • Import: --import always aborts with the target database already containing data in the key range being imported.
      • MTA:
        • A domain catchAllAddress pointing to a mailing list or a sub-addressed mailbox is accepted at RCPT TO and then rejected at local delivery with 550 5.5.0 Mailbox not found.
        • is_local_address() and is_local_domain() expression functions do not match an address or domain spelled with uppercase characters.
        • Relay routes are rejected with host resolves loopback address, which prevents relaying through a local proxy or tunnel.
      • MySQL, MariaDB & PostgreSQL: Range scans, range deletions and store purges run as a single unbounded statement, so on servers that enforce a statement timeout they abort on large accounts and tasks such as account deletion can never complete.
      • Network: local_port and local_ip report the address Stalwart is bound to rather than the address the client connected to when the connection arrives through a trusted proxy.
      • Task manager:
        • totalDeadline is not enforced on tasks that fail with a specific retry time.
        • Indexing tasks are dropped after maxAttempts failures, so a search store that is unavailable or overloaded leaves messages permanently missing from the index.
        • Indexing tasks are dropped when the document metadata read returns no data, which can happen on SQL read replicas that have not yet caught up with the primary.
        • The DNS management task republishes the DKIM records of retired keys that the DKIM rotation task had already removed from the zone.
      • Sieve: spamtest returns only 1 or 10 (and spamtest :percent only 0 or 100), so scripts cannot act on intermediate spam scores.
      • Spam filter: MIME_BAD is tagged whenever the declared Content-Type of an attachment is not byte identical to the type detected from its magic bytes.

      BookStack v26.05.4

      24 Augustus 2026 om 14:49

      Security Release

This is a security release to address a range of vulnerabilities:

      • Users could update attachments on pages they did not have permission to update.
      • Request endpoints for drawings could be misused to create cross-site-scripting scenarios.
      • Draft page endpoints could be misused to alter non-draft pages without needing edit permission for those pages.
      • Draft pages created by other users could appear in certain search result lists.
      • ZIP imports with certain content could lead to a remote-code-execution scenario.
      • Page visibility rules may not be updated in certain recycle-bin-related scenarios.

Updating is generally advised, but strongly so where untrusted users have general access to the instance.

If untrusted users do have access, especially edit level access, it's advised to double check image upload folders to ensure there's no unexpected non-image content.
On a typical Linux-based system installation, this could be done using the find command from the BookStack installation folder like so:

      # Check the general "public" server space
find ./public/uploads -type f ! \( -iname "*.jpg" -o -iname "*.jpeg" -o -iname "*.png" -o -iname "*.gif" -o -iname "*.webp" -o -iname "*.avif" -o -iname ".gitignore" -o -iname ".htaccess" \)

      # Check the internal image storage space
      find ./storage/uploads/images -type f ! \( -iname "*.jpg" -o -iname "*.jpeg" -o -iname "*.png" -o -iname "*.gif" -o -iname "*.webp" -o -iname "*.avif" \)

A big thanks to the following researchers for responsibly reporting vulnerabilities which were addressed in this release:

      Full List of Changes

      • Updated image serving with additional MIME-based content type check.
      • Updated PHP package versions.
      • Updated translations with the latest Crowdin changes.
      • Fixed issue where anchor links would be removed or be made invalid. (#6178)
      • Fixed issue where sftp links would be removed from content. (#6186)
      • Fixed lack of content validation when storing base64 drawing content.
      • Fixed lack of permission check on draft endpoints.
      • Fixed lacking content validation checks on book covers during ZIP imports.
      • Fixed missing update permission check on attachment API.
      • Fixed scenario where joint permission table would not be updated for chapter pages which are in the recycle bin.
      • Fixed search queries not filtering out drafts from other users.

      22 Augustus 2026 om 21:28

Donations are appreciated. There is now a PayPal option.

      Changes from 2.8.0 to 2.8.1:

      Updates:

      • Updated LAV Filters to version 0.83-1-g63d24
      • Updated MPC Video Renderer to version 0.10.8.2572

      Changes/additions:

      • Added ability to load a secondary subtitle track from the subtitle menu. This supports only external text-based formats (SRT) and excludes formats that may contain explicit positioning (SSA/PGS/VobSub). The secondary subtitle is rendered at the top of the window. There are some known limitations. For example adjustments such as delay will apply to both tracks. Secondary is also not included in screenshots. Do NOT open issues/requests about this!
      • Added ability to auto-copy all rendered subtitle text to the clipboard in real-time. Toggling this on/off can be assigned to a hotkey or one of the custom toolbar buttons.
      • New "remote" page in web interface, providing a modern interface for remote control of MPC-HC from any phone (or web browser) in your local network.
      • Expanded the API for remote control through window messages from a master process. See MpcApi.h header file.

      Fixes:

      • A few bug fixes in web interface.
      • A few other fixes and small improvements.

      OpenSubtitles download error 406

Subtitle downloads from OpenSubtitles may fail depending on time of day. This is due to our daily download quota being exceeded. Current amount of donations is barely enough to pay for the existing quota. So it is unlikely that quota can be increased and situation will get worse over time.
If you create an OpenSubtitles account and configure it in MPC-HC settings then you may be able to bypass the quota.

      Overview of features

A lot of people seem to be unaware of some of the awesome features that have been added to MPC-HC in the past years. Here is a list of useful options and features that everyone should know about:

      • Play HDR video
This requires using either MPC Video Renderer (MPCVR) or madVR.
These renderers can be selected here:
        Options > Playback > Output
With other video renderers, the colors will be wrong!
MPCVR is included and is the recommended and default renderer for modern systems. MadVR needs to be installed separately. MPCVR also supports Dolby Vision. MadVR does not.
For optimal performance you should change the hardware decoder to D3D11 in LAV Video Decoder settings when using MPCVR on Windows 10/11, because this renderer uses DirectX11.
      • The installer of MPC-HC is very basic (and that will not change).
I therefore recommend using K-Lite Codec Pack. That includes MPC-HC and other essential components. It has a very advanced installation that can automatically create file associations, and helps you with easy configuration of important MPC-HC settings, such as preferred subtitle language(s). It also does automatic configuration of renderer and hardware decoding, for best performance and HDR support.
The Standard version should be sufficient for most people. Use Full version of you like to use MadVR.
      • Modern GUI Theme (Dark or Light) or the old classic theme
Options > Player > User Interface
It is also possible to change the height of the seekbar and size of the toolbar buttons.
Plus there are options to show audio/video details in the statusbar, such as codec and resolution.
      • Customizable toolbar buttons
You can add/remove/re-order the player buttons.
There are also several different toolbar designs to choose from.
      • Video preview on the seekbar
Options > Player > User Interface > Hover type
      • Ability to search for subtitles
        Press D for manual search.
Or enable automatic search in: Options > Subtitles > Misc
      • Adjust playback speed
Menu > Play > Playback rate
The buttons in the player that control playback rate take a 2x step by default. This can be customized to smaller values (like 10%):
Options > Playback > Speed step
If you have 1000 IQ you can even do smart stuff like setting playback rate change to mouse right-click + scrollwheel:
        Options > Player > Mouse
Adjusting playback speed works best with MPC Audio Renderer or SaneAR. These audio renderers have automatic pitch correction, while DirectSound does not.
Options > Playback > Output > Audio Renderer
      • MPC-HC can remember recently played files and also their playback position, so you can resume playback from when you left
        Options > Player > History
      • You can quickly seek through a video with Ctrl + Mouse Scrollwheel.
      • You can jump to next/previous file in a folder by pressing PageUp/PageDown.
      • You can right-click on the framestep button to step backwards. Some other buttons also have right-click actions, such as closing file by right-clicking stop.
      • You can perform automatic actions at end of file. For example to go to next file or close player.
Options > Playback > After Playback (permanent setting)
Menu > Play > After Playback (for current file only)
      • A-B repeat
You can loop a segment of a video. Press [ and ] to set start and stop markers.
      • You can rotate/flip/mirror/stretch/zoom the video
        Menu > View > Pan&Scan
This is also easily done with hotkeys (see below).
      • There are lots of keyboard hotkeys and mouse actions to control the player. They can be customized as well.
        Options > Player > Keys
Tip: there is a search box above the table.
      • You can hide GUI elements even in windowed mode
Options > User Interface > Hide Windowed Controls
That hides most GUI elements during playback. To show them simply move your mouse to bottom of window.
You can even hide everything except the video by pressing 1 (restore normal view with 3).
      • You can seek inside the playlist by simply typing text (when playlist window has the mouse focus).
      • MPC-HC also supports Blu-ray playback.
Only limitation is that you need to use a decrypting tool.
And it also does not support Blu-ray menus, but you can use the navigate menu in the player to select the content to play.
      • You can stream videos directly from Youtube and many other video websites
Put yt-dlp.exe in the MPC-HC installation folder.
Then you can open website URLs in the player: Menu > File > Open File/URL
You can even download those videos: Menu > File > Save a copy
Tip: to be able to download in best quality with yt-dlp, it is recommended to also put ffmpeg.exe in the MPC-HC folder.
Several YDL configuration options are found here: Options > Advanced
This includes an option to specify the location of yt-dlp.exe in case you don't want to put it in MPC-HC folder.
Note 1: You also need to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86)
Note 2: For optimal Youtube support you may also need to put deno.exe in same folder as yt-dlp.
Note 3: yt-dlp nightly build (very latest version made daily)
        Note 4: yt-dlp windows7 compatible build
      • Besides all these (new) features, there have also been many bugfixes and internal improvements in the player in the past years that give better performance and stability. It also has updated internal codecs. Support was added for CUE sheets, WebVTT subtitles, etc.
      • You should really take a few minutes to look through all the options pages if you are a new user or if you are upgrading from a very old version. Don't forget the advanced options page.

Road Trip: Vehicle Configuration & Purchase Process

      Door: Petr
      22 Augustus 2026 om 17:00

Today, we're happy to bring you another preview from the Road Trip project. This time, we'll be showing you more from the vehicle configuration and purchase process, so let's take a look!

Both the purchase process and vehicle configuration in Road Trip will work a little bit differently than what you are used to with trucks. If you want to get behind the wheel of your own Ford Mustang, Dodge Challenger, or any other car, you will need to head on to the "Car Dealer" tab in the in-game desktop.

There, you'll first select your preferred car brand, with the available options depending on which Car Pack DLCs you own. If you own both theΒ Ford Car Pack and RAM & Dodge Car PackΒ DLCs, you'll be able to choose from Ford, RAM, and Dodge. As you can see, some Car Packs may contain and unlock more than one brand, as is the case with the RAM & Dodge Car Pack DLC. After that, you can choose a specific model, take a closer look at the car, see its light signature, explore its details, and check out its description, technical details, and specifications. You can browse the available models like a catalog, or switch to a table view and easily compare their specifications side by side. Before purchase, you can choose from a variety of unique colours.

After purchasing your car, you'll either have the option to drive it straightaway or give it a more personalized look based on your preference. If you decide to make some further customizations, you will need to head to the garage, which can also be found in the in-game desktop under the "My Cars" tab. This is a brand new virtual space where you can view, customize, and manage your cars.

There, the layout is similar to the Car Dealer, allowing you to browse the cars you own, view their details, and compare them. But more importantly, this is where the customization happens! Just hit Configure and choose from a variety of different options tailored for each car - from paint jobs to both exterior and interior parts. Selected cabin accessories will also be compatible with Car Pack DLCs. You can also sell your cars here.

Now you can hit the Drive button and start exploring the world of American Truck Simulator from a completely new and different perspective.

We are still researching further options and are dedicated to continuing our work on bringing new features and customization options to Road Trip vehicles in the future. Stay tuned as we explore new ways to expand and enhance this experience!

If you are excited about Road Trip, make sure to add both its DLCs, the Ford Car Pack or the RAM & Dodge Car Pack,Β to your Steam wishlist!

Also, remember to follow us on X/Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Bluesky, and YouTube for all the latest news from Road Trip and other American Truck Simulator information, or sign up for our newsletter to stay informed. Happy travels!

Coaches: Vehicle Ownership & Job Schedule

      Door: Alex
      21 Augustus 2026 om 17:00

Ready to swap cargo for passengers? Then we've got some exciting news for you! Today, we're sharing more details about the upcoming Coaches DLC for Euro Truck Simulator 2, including coach ownership and how you'll plan and take on passenger transport jobs. All aboard!Β

One of our goals with the Coaches DLC is to give players the opportunity to purchase and customise their own coach, much like you already can with trucks.Β

Coaches will be available for purchase through the Online Dealer and will be stored in the player's virtual garage. From there, players will be able to manage, inspect, customise, and sell their vehicles whenever they wish. Coaches will also be stored separately from trucks, meaning they won't occupy any existing garage slots.

Purchasing a coach will be a significant investment, but finances will be shared across both Truck and Coach modes. This means players will be able to earn money through Coach Quick Jobs or regular truck jobs before purchasing their own vehicle. Financing and loans will also be available for those who wish to get behind the wheel a little sooner, just make sure to pay on time!

Coaches will feature a range of customisation options. Depending on the vehicle model, players will be able to choose from various chassis configurations, engine and transmission variants, along with a selection of interior options such as seat upholstery colours and curtains. Selected cabin accessories will also be compatible with coaches.

Not every upgrade will be available immediately. Some parts and accessories will unlock through player progression, giving drivers additional options as they gain more experience behind the wheel.

Owning a coach will also provide the freedom to explore the map outside of scheduled passenger services. Players will be able to travel wherever they like, visit viewpoints, and enjoy driving across Europe at their own pace. Fuel consumption, fatigue, and other familiar gameplay systems will work just as they do when driving an owned truck.Β Owning a coach will also unlock new gameplay features, one of which is Contract Jobs.Β

Using the Contract Jobs menu, players will be able to browse available passenger services in cities close to their current location. After selecting a route, they will first need to drive to the appropriate bus station before beginning the service.

Once at the station, players will confirm their selected line. The game will then advance to the scheduled departure time, passengers will board the coach, and the journey can begin. Many passenger services will include multiple stops along the route, and players can choose from jobs that vary in difficulty based on their experience and skill level. Taking on more challenging routes will reward higher earnings and additional experience.Β

We hope you enjoyed reading about the ongoing work for Coaches for Euro Truck Simulator 2. If you're excited to get behind the wheel, be sure to add this upcoming module to your Steam Wishlist. We look forward to sharing more news with you about this addition as development continues. See you on the road!
